Cruz's game is predicated on movement and his ability to dart in and out of the pocket, but if Munhoz can land his leg kicks early and cut off that movement, he should take complete control over the fight.Ĭruz has a 3-inch advantage in both height and reach but seemingly has no finishing upside against Munhoz, who is a durable high-level jiu-jitsu practitioner. Munhoz fires leg kicks as hard and as often as anyone in the sport (landed 37-of-42 against Jose Aldo, 44-of-52 against Frankie Edgar, and 32-of-42 against Aljamain Sterling in his last three fights). While he is still a top-level fighter, Cruz has shown some signs of regression, and notably, for this fight, he did not deal well with the leg kicks from Henry Cejudo (landed 23-of-25) and Casey Kenney (landed 23-of-26) in his last two bouts. Up-to-the-minute results of UFC 269 include: Dominick Cruz def. Other losses in the stretch include Aljamain Sterling, Frankie Edgar, and Jose Aldo. Saturday will mark Cruz's third fight since returning from a 3.5-year layoff. As for Munhoz, the defeat marks his fourth loss in five appearances. The four outcomes here, in my assessment, are 1) Munhoz finish 2) dominant Munhoz decision 3) close Munhoz decision 4) close Cruz decision. However, nearly all of the finishing upside lies with Munhoz, who possesses a clear power advantage. Cruzs best days are behind him and though he still has some left in the tank, beating Vera will be easier said than done.

#DOMINICK CRUZ VS PEDRO MUNHOZ PREDICTION CRACK#
Fighters, like Pedro, might not try to finish the fight but earn the points and win the unanimous decision victory, but if he feels the smell of blood, he will finish Dominick for sure. At best, Cruz can win a close decision in this fight, predicated on volume. Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz, will get another chance to crack the Top 10 when he meets Pedro Munhoz. Pedro does not have the cardio issue, so if Dominick gets tired, Pedro will go for the finish. 36 is not too old, but he did not fight for 4 years and came back after a long retirement, which means a lot. Also, Munhoz has never been finished so I don’t think that Cruz will do it at 36. Dominick is a phenomenal champion and wrote the history, but I don’t think his cardio and stamina can continue for all 3 rounds. In this fight, I think Munhoz will earn another victory. His last appearance was against Jose Aldo, where “The King of Rio” earned a very dominant victory over his native college. After that victory, he fought 4 times and gained only 1 win. However, he peaked his career when he earned a KO victory against Cody Garbrandt at UFC 235.

Pedro Munhoz has been a member of the UFC since 2014 and earned veteran status. He came back from retirement against Henry Cejudo but suffered another loss, and finally, he held a very close fight with Casey Kenney and earned the first victory in his last five years. But somehow, someway, Cruz (24-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) overcame great adversity in the opening minutes to rally and dominate fellow contender Pedro Munhoz (19-7 MMA, 9-7 UFC) en route to a unanimous. However, he suffered his first-ever loss in the UFC in 2016 against Cody Garbrandt and retired. Aug 11, 2022, 12:00pm EDT Dominick Cruz is set to headline the upcoming UFC San.
